And yet the Babri Masjid was torn down to delirious shouts,
churches vandalised, Bodhgaya, the holiest Buddhist site in the world
taken over by Hindus ... the list is endless. Most distressing is that
today, in the Meenakshi temple in Madurai, there are panels depicting the
violent impalement of Jain and Buddhist monks, and the burning of Jain and
Buddhist scriptures. Is it not then inevitable that pogroms of Dalits,
Muslims, Sikhs, Christians ... occur with horrific regularity?
One rule for themselves, another for the others. It is the
casteist mind at work.
