Johar Adivasi Bhai Bandhugan and Jharkhandis! Is Mr. Venkitesh trying to write a 'New History' of Tribal / Indigenous people of India? Issues / matters are being messed up and mountains are being built out of moles. Enough has been searched and re-searched explored and written about US. Now, it has just become a 'subject' of belief and disbelief. It seems now that 'dikus'( outsiders ) know better about US than our own selves? Only problem with us is that we have very few acknowledged historians amongst us to check the authenticities of what is/are written about US ( and to challenge, if something is wrongly written or recorded ). The opportunists are just playing with words and defining and re-defining ( and coining as well ) words / terminologies like 'adivasi', 'tribe', 'caste', 'Indigenous People', 'vanvasi' so on and so forth. The applicability of such terminologies depends on its reference to place, people, situation or constitutional context. So, that's it! There is, once again, a sudden surge of interest in Tribal / Indigenous people and their tribal lands by various sate governments, political parties, 'dikus' with vested interests, NGOs ( past and present )
...trying to be the patrons and protectors, supporters and benefactors and above and so-called 'Saviors'! Where were they all these years? Are the lands of tribals / indigenous people the only land available for national progress / growth? What about the Government lands? How much have been thought, planned and implemented ( and achieved!!!!!) SO FAR, for the so-called development of Tribal Society is not a secret anymore! We know, don't we? Do they have no other issues and problems to deal with? Why don't they take care of the have-nots, downtrodden and poor of so-called Hindu Communities more than Tribals / Indigenous people? They are in millions scattered all over India? Why only the Christian Tribals or 'Saunsars' living in deep jungles ( or close to it ) and little known villages and cities / towns - are targeted to create cacophony in the Society? We have just become 'easy targets' of anyone which is a serious concern. The matter is very simple and straight. How the Karma festival is being celebrated among tribals / Indigenous people? Where is the question of Hindus celebrating 'karma'? Can it be? We are mixing up things and the matter is being made more complicated. It is as simple as this 'Diwali', 'Dassera' and so on ( just for example ) are basically Hindu festivals but people from other communities just 'participate' in these festival as a gesture of love, peace and solidarity. This gesture does not make them Hindus. Likewise 'Karma' is basically and strictly a tribal festival. Anyone is most welcome to participate in it. BUT please do not try to mess up with the very essence and sanctity of this solemn festival or call it a 'Hindu festival'! So, please let us maintain the sanctity and solemnity of our religious faiths and festivals. LIVE AND LET LIVE and LETS LIVE LIKE HUMANS. - John Denis Horo Mumbai N.B. : How the festival of karma is being celebrated in our contemporary tribal society in villages, towns, metros?
